Overview

What IEPF recovery is

Shares and dividends unclaimed for seven consecutive years are transferred by the company to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF).
The original shareholder - or their legal heir - can claim them back at any time. There is no time limit on claiming.
The claim is filed in Form IEPF-5 on the MCA portal, and the company must verify the claim before the IEPF authority processes it.
On approval, shares are credited to the claimant's demat account and dividends to their bank account.

Benefits

Why claimants recover IEPF shares through us

Open each benefit to see what it means for you.

IEPF-5 done right the first time

IEPF-5 is unforgiving about details - claimant identity, entitlement proof, company verification. We prepare it so the company has no reason to reject it.

Company verification managed

Your company must verify the claim before IEPF processes it. We coordinate with their secretarial team so your file doesn't sit in a queue.

Entitlement proof assembled

Dividend warrants, old share certificates, transmission cases - each has its own proof requirements. We know what the authority accepts.

Follow-up till credit

IEPF claims take months. We track the status and keep you posted, so you are not calling the authority yourself.

Documents

Documents you will usually need

Clear, current documents matter more than a long checklist. Names, dates of birth and addresses should match across records.

Process

How we handle your IEPF claim

You’ll see each stage, what’s pending and what we need from you — so filings don’t bounce back.

Step 1 of 4

Entitlement traced

We establish what was transferred - shares, dividends, or both - from the company's records and the IEPF database.

Documents assembled

KYC, proof of holding, succession documents - everything the authority expects, compiled into one file.

IEPF-5 filed

IEPF-5 is filed on the MCA portal with the complete documentation.

Verified and followed up

We work with the company's secretarial team for verification and follow up with the IEPF authority until the shares and dividends reach you.

If a founder or investor is outside India

Foreign ownership is possible in many sectors, but it adds document authentication, banking and FEMA work. Set the route before funds move.

Plan before you start

  • Check whether your sector permits automatic-route foreign investment
  • Confirm the Indian resident director arrangement
  • Map ownership, beneficial ownership and pricing
  • Allow time for apostilled or consularised documents

Plan for after setup

  • Receive funds through permitted banking channels
  • Complete RBI/FEMA reporting and keep the bank evidence
  • Coordinate tax and ongoing compliance advice early

Shares and dividends unclaimed for seven consecutive years are transferred to the IEPF. They are not lost - you can claim them back from the authority by filing IEPF-5.
Honestly, months - typically 6 to 12 months from a clean filing, sometimes longer. The authority processes claims in batches. We set this expectation upfront.
Yes - legal heirs can claim transmitted shares and accumulated dividends. You will need succession proof, and the documentation is heavier. We handle heir claims regularly.
There is no government fee for IEPF-5 itself. You pay for our professional service; the authority does not charge for processing the claim.
The claim goes in the claimant's name with transmission or succession proof. The company verifies the transmission first, then IEPF processes the claim.
Not necessarily. Dividend warrants, old annual reports, the company's registrar records, and your demat history can all help establish entitlement. We work with what exists.
The company verifies your claim and forwards it to IEPF. We coordinate this step - it is usually where claims stall without follow-up.
Rarely. Once the authority approves, shares are credited to your demat account and dividends to your bank account. Rejection usually comes from incomplete documentation - which is what we prevent.
