Overview

What GSTR-9C is

GSTR-9C is a reconciliation statement between your audited annual financial statements and your filed GSTR-9.
It applies to taxpayers with aggregate turnover above Rs 5 crore in a financial year, per GSTIN.
Under the current rules, GSTR-9C is self-certified - no CA certification is required, though the reconciliation work remains just as rigorous.
It is due by 31 December following the financial year, alongside GSTR-9.

Benefits

Why businesses file GSTR-9C through us

Open each benefit to see what it means for you.

Reconciliation built, not copied

We build the reconciliation from your books to your GSTR-9 ourselves - we don't just copy your auditor's certificate and hope.

Every annexure covered

Rate-wise and state-wise breakup, ITC reconciliation, expense-wise analysis - every annexure gets attention, not just the headline table.

Difference tables explained

The differences table is where the department looks. We prepare it with clear explanations that stand up to scrutiny.

GSTR-9 filed alongside

Your GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C tell one consistent story, filed together by the same team.

Documents

Documents you will usually need

Clear, current documents matter more than a long checklist. Names, dates of birth and addresses should match across records.

If a founder or investor is outside India

Foreign ownership is possible in many sectors, but it adds document authentication, banking and FEMA work. Set the route before funds move.

Plan before you start

  • Check whether your sector permits automatic-route foreign investment
  • Confirm the Indian resident director arrangement
  • Map ownership, beneficial ownership and pricing
  • Allow time for apostilled or consularised documents

Plan for after setup

  • Receive funds through permitted banking channels
  • Complete RBI/FEMA reporting and keep the bank evidence
  • Coordinate tax and ongoing compliance advice early

Aggregate turnover above Rs 5 crore in the financial year. Below that, GSTR-9 alone is enough.
No. Since the rule change, GSTR-9C is self-certified - your company certifies it. The reconciliation work itself still needs to be rigorous.
31 December following the financial year - the same deadline as GSTR-9, and both are usually filed together.
The same late fee structure as GSTR-9 applies. File on time; the fees for a Rs 5 crore+ business add up fast.
Yes - one per GSTIN. If you operate in five states, that's five GSTR-9Cs. We handle multi-state filings as one engagement.
It is a reconciliation, not a tax computation - but differences found during reconciliation may mean additional tax is due. We flag those before filing so nothing is a surprise.
Turnover is computed per GSTIN, not at the PAN level. We check each registration's turnover separately.
Absolutely. The form demands audited figures, rate-wise breakups, and ITC reconciliation - and it must tie to GSTR-9 exactly. This is professional work, not a data-entry job.
