    It is said that the marriages are made in heaven. It is mandatory to register all Marriages in India. It can be either be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. The Hindu Marriage Act is applicable to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains or Sikhs whereas the Special Marriage Act is applicable to all the citizens of India irrespective of their religion. For marriage registration the age of bride must be of 18 years and age of grooms must be of 21 years. Marriage can be solemnized in the court in the presence of Marriage Officer after completion of which a marriage certificate is issued the Marriage certificate. Marriage Certificate is necessary while applying documents like PAN Card, visa or passport after marriage. In Delhi, the SDM office opens on Monday, Wednesday & Friday for Marriage Registration Certificate. Basic requirement for Marriage Registration 1. Age of Bride must be at least 18 years 2. Age of Groom must be at least 21 years 3. Minimum 2 witnesses are required to register a Marriage 4. Affidavits by the Bride & Groom

      A notice of marriage is required to be given to the marriage officer in advance where any of the parties have resided. Parties need to give the notice in writing in the prescribed format under Section 5.

      Publication of Notice

      The marriage Officer will publish the notice for inviting objection and the notice is open for objection for 30 days. If no objection received, the Marriage shall occur.

      Appointment at the District Court

      The parties along with the witness who attended the marriage need to visit the District Court with the documents to complete the other formalities

      Marriage Registration Certificate

      Upon the verification of documents submitted by parties, the SDM will provide the registration certificate in 24-48 hours in tatkal service and in 21 to 30 days in normal service.

  3. 2 witness with their PAN Card and Aadhar Card
  4. 5 Passport size photographs of bride & groom
